LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - 2025

Last Saturday, the Canadian Tamil Writers’ Association held its 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award Ceremony in Toronto, Canada.

At this prestigious event, the Association honored five distinguished literary figures: Mr. Kuru Aravinthan, Mr. V. N. Mathiyazhagan, Mrs. Cellaiah Yogaratnam, Dr. Mrs. Parvathy Kandasamy, and Mr. N. Nakulasikhamani.

Two special publications were presented to attendees: an introductory book by the Writers’ Association and a commemorative volume celebrating the literary journey and achievements of writer Kuru Aravinthan, compiled by his readership.

Writer Kuru Aravinthan’s accomplishments are remarkable. He is the only author in the Canadian Tamil diaspora to have consistently received literary awards and recognitions every year for the past 25 years (2000–2025). He set two unique milestones: first, by publishing Valentine’s Day stories in five different countries within the same year, and second, by writing Valentine’s Day stories for 16 consecutive years in the Canada Uthayan newspaper. Additionally, he became the first author to use advanced AI technology to create 40 illustrations for his historical novel Maruthapuravigavalli, serialized in Sri Lanka Virakesari.
